Inhalation
If adverse effects occur, remove to uncontaminated area. Give artificial respiration if not breathing. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin
Wash skin with soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention, if needed. Thoroughly clean and dry contaminated clothing and shoes before reuse.
Eyes
Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Then get immediate medical attention.
Ingestion
Contact local poison control center or physician immediately. Never make an unconscious person vomit or drink fluids. When vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration. If person is unconscious, turn head to side. Get medical attention immediately.
Note to Physicians

IARC: | Monograph 53 [1991]; Supplement 7 [1987] (Group 3 (not classifiable)) |
May react with nitrite under mildly acidic conditions such as those in the human stomach, to form N-nitrosodimethylamine, which has been shown to be carcinogenic in seven animal species Interactions with alcohol may occur.
Inhalation - Acute Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE: Exposure to the aerosol has caused irritation of the nose and throat, gastritis, anemia, and vegetodystonia The dust may cause burning sensation in the eyes, nose, and throat, epistaxis and difficulty in breathing.
Inhalation - Chronic Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE: Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause effects as described in acute exposure Neural and visual disturbances were also reported from prolonged exposure A higher frequency of abnormal chromosomes or chromatids was reported in cultured lymphocytes of workers exposed to zinc dimethyldithiocarbamate.
Skin Contact - Acute Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE: May cause irritation It may be absorbed through intact skin Dithiocarbamates may cause itching, redness, and eczematoid dermatitis in predisposed individuals.
Skin Contact - Chronic Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE: May cause dermatitis upon heavy exposure Repeated contact with dithiocarbamates may cause sensitization in some individuals.
Eye Contact - Acute Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE May cause irritation, a burning sensation and mild conjunctivitis.
Eye Contact - Chronic Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE Repeated or prolonged contact may cause conjunctivitis.
Ingestion - Acute Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE: Emphysema, hemolysis, brain edema and hemorrhage, dystrophy of the muscle, liver and kidney, and local necrosis of the intestine were reported in a fatal case of human poisoning Ingestion of dithiocarbamates may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, headache, lethargy, dizziness, ataxia, confusion, drowsiness, emotional lability and coma In animal studies, muscle weakness and ascending paralysis progressed to respiratory paralysis and death.
Ingestion - Chronic Exposure
ZINC DIMETHYLDITHIOCARBAMATE: Rats given diets containing 2500 ppm for 2 years experienced some weight reduction, but no mortalities were reported Adverse effects on fertility, the fetus, and fetal developmental abnormalities were reported from chronic feeding studies of pregnant rats In an NTP study, increased incidences of C-cell carcinomas of the thyroid gland were observed in male rats and increased incidences of alveolar/bronchiolar adenomas and of combined alveolar/bronchiolar adenomas or carcinomas occurred in female mice No evidence of carcinogenic activity was observed in the opposite sex of either species Rats administered 2000 ppm for 24 months developed epiphyseal abnormalities of the long bones of the hind legs Animals receiving 25 mg/kg per day for one year suffered from convulsions.
